Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actor, singer, and dancer. In her early Broadway roles, she played the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The role she played as Essie Carmahiel in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel earned her an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in the Play. Annaleigh has worked in projects with award-winning directors, actors, and producers throughout the course of her career. Ashford will be next as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani in Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It premieres on the 22nd of November. Ashford's upcoming project is Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust and he will be starring with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. It's also available in the form of an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford will return in 2023. He will star alongside Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will lead the production. Ashford was Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX program American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the scandal that brought Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as well as other main actors into the very first impeachment proceeding in America in over a century. Ashford appeared for two seasons in the CBS popular comedy B Positive. It was created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not familiar with Broadway was awarded both Tony Drama Desk Awards as well as Outer Critics Circle Awards in the role of Essie.
